Why I made it

Scoring Riichi is slow and hard if you’re a beginner, and what tiles are worth what fu feels more like homework than a game. I also saw that some apps had vision recognition, but they weren’t perfect. This was an opportunity to really experiment with user experience and play with computer vision at the same time.

How it works

You answer questions one step at a time, use your camera or a slick keypad tile selector to choose tiles, then slam that next button to see your score, who pays you, and how much. From the start, I built audit into all of the calculations, so not only does the app show you a score, it shows you every part of the calculation that built your score.

Then, hopefully, you share your hand so all your Riichi friends download the app, with a url like this.
